Do we ever stop to think if people might be watching and paying attention to what we do. Do we realize that our every action is being observed, that people are looking to see if we are behaving as we should?
Recently I was in a neighborhood bakery looking to buy a cake for my family. On line ahead of me was a group of children with their teacher who as a treat decided to buy each student a pastry. The children waited patiently and quietly for their turn to choose what they want, and once done, waited patiently until everyone was finished. One woman who stood ahead of me on the line was so impressed by their behavior that she promptly took out ten dollars from her pocket and gave it to the teacher to help pay for the treats. She said that she had never seen such a well behaved group of children in a situation such as this and felt that she wanted to be able in some way to be part of that.
We have to open our eyes and realize that there are people watching everything we do, to think before we do things and consider what effect it might have, what impression it might make. There is more to contemplate though, because on a deeper level if we understand that there is a need to control the way we act due to what other people might think, how much more so that we need to act properly in any situation (even when we are alone) because there is someone above us who is always watching. I guess in the end that what I'm trying to say is that we should always be aware of how we act anywhere because we really never know who may be watching and what impression we will make.
